The number of housing commencements taking place in the Midlands has collapsed when compared to last year.
The construction of just 93 homes was started in Laois, Offaly, Westmeath last month - compared to 620 for September in 2024.
The biggest decline is seen in Laois where just 7 commencement notices were recorded compared to 212 the year previous.
There were 46 in Westmeath, down from 400, while notices are up in Offaly, from just 8 in September last year to 42.
