TD James Browne has opened homes in Portlaoise, Mountmellick and Stradbally.
The Minister for Housing is in Laois today opening 216 new homes across the county.
TD James Browne is visiting the properties in Portlaoise, Mountmellick and Stradbally.
He believes while Laois has hit it's targets or social housing, the Housing Assistance Payment scheme needs to match rising rental prices.
According to the latest Simon Report there is no properties available under the HAP scheme.
He says a review is being carried out to see if the amount is suitable for people to avail of government supports:
