The Westmeath station has been closed since the 1960s, but locals have campaigned for its re-opening for over 20 years.
Housing plans must be considered when looking at the possibility of re-opening a former midlands train station.
That's according to the Transport Minister, Eamon Ryan, who says Irish Rail are continuing to examine the feasbility of re-opening Killucan Train Station
There's been a 20 year campaign to get the site, which has been closed since the 1960s, back up and running again.
