HSE Accused Of Withholding Home Support Data With 5,600 On Waiting Lists

11,795 clients were served by the HSE's home support service in 2025.

Home & Community Care Ireland says the HSE is refusing to provide information on its home support operations.

Last year the Health Service reorgnaised its home support structure meaning waiting lists are now reported across the new structure of six HSE Health Regions and 20 Integrated Healthcare Areas.

HCCI says the grouping of multiple counties into larger IHAs makes it more difficult to identify areas with significant waiting list pressures, with the Midlands IHA covering Laois, Longford, Offaly and Westmeath.

Last year, there were 11,795 clients served by the HSE's home support service.

HCCI's report found that 5,600 people were waiting for home care at the end of 2025, broadly unchanged from the previous year, despite a 7% increase in home care hours and a record €838 million budget.
