A midlands TD is planning to raise the matter with the Taoiseach.
The HSE has been criticised for failing to establish a mental health helpline for students sitting State exams.
Galway Councillor Evelyn Parsons said students are overwhelmed and overloaded with mental health challenges coming up exams.
She said a properly resource student helpline could provide a clear one-stop-shop to provide supports and services
Independent TD Denis Naughten said the move was disappointing adding that he will now raise the issue in the Dáil with the Taoiseach:
