Iarnród Éireann Adding Extra Trains For National Ploughing Championships

The National Ploughing Championships begin next week.

Iarnród Éireann are set to run additional rail services for the National Ploughing Championships next week.

Additional services will call at Tullamore and Portarlington throughout the three-day event, which includes the recently confirmed 06:40am Athlone Tullamore special service, which will operate daily on the 15th, 16th and 17th September.

Iarnród Éireann and Bus Éireann are also offering a combined rail and bus add-on ticket for the Ploughing, which is expected to attract approximately 275,000 visitors over the three days.

A dedicated shuttle bus will run between Portarlington and Tullamore stations and the Ploughing Championships, with tickets available as an add-on when booking your train.

Customers travelling from Cork, Kerry, Limerick, and all stops to Portarlington will need to change trains at Portarlington and transfer to the bus shuttle service, which will take them onward to the event grounds.

Those travelling from Galway, Mayo, Dublin, Waterford, and all stops to Tullamore must change at Tullamore, with an onward bus taking them directly to the event grounds.
