Minister for the OPW, Longford Westmeath TD Kevin 'Boxer' Moran has issued a warning to local authorities that building on land prone to flooding will no longer be tolerated.
According to the Irish Times, he says there's an onus on the state to provide flood defences for existing buildings, but warns he "won't protect" anyone who builds on floodplains in future.
