IFA Poultry Chair Warns Farmers Of 'Phenomenally Dangerous' Virus

A Housing Order is in place to prevent the spread.

The IFA Poultry Chair is warning farmers the 'real danger' of bird flu is when it spreads to laying hens. 

It comes as an outbreak of the disease has been confirmed in a flock of 30,000 turkeys, on a farm in Laois. 

Nigel Sweetnam believes it will be 'phenomenally dangerous' for hens to contract the flu as it would be detrimental to the poultry industry in Ireland. 

He says the Housing Order must be followed to prevent the spread:
