55% Increase In Calls To Midlands Domestic Abuse Support Service

The Westmeath refuge is launching a new campaign to raise awareness.

A midlands domestic abuse support service has seen a 55% increase in calls to its helpline in the first six months of the year. 

Esker House Women's Refuge in Athlone also says they've lost out on €5,000 due to fundraising events being cancelled this year. 

To help counteract the shortfall, its launching an online campaign today to raise funds for its support services.

Core support worker, Valerie Dolan says the campaign aims to raise awareness.
