Up to 60 people attended a meeting held by the Independent Farmers of Ireland last night in Ballacolla in Laois.
Three people were selected to negotiate on behalf of farmers protesting outside meat processing plants in a row over prices.
Their aims are to improve rural Ireland and to get meat processing plants to pay properly for their beef.
