Junior Finance Minister and Longford-Westmeath TD Robert Troy says it's to steer people away from litigation.

The Injuries Resolution Board will have more powers to settle insurance premiums in newly planned reforms by Government.

It's part of a new 26 point action plan in order to reduce costs that's being led by Longford-Westmeath TD's Peter Burke and Robert Troy.

By strengthening the board's functions, it's hoped less people will use the litigation route to settle standardised claims.
