Ireland Still Faces STEM Gender Gap Despite Strong PISA Results

Ireland continues to be a leading performer in education internationally.

Ireland still has a lot of catching up to do when it comes to the gender divide in STEM siubjects.

That's according to the CEO of Midlands Science, following the latest PISA results, which confirmed that Ireland remains among the world’s leading countries for educational outcomes.

Ireland’s performance in reading, mathematics and science remained above the EU and OECD averages despite scores in reading and mathematics being lower in PISA 2025 than in previous assessment cycles.

The report also found boys outperformed girls in maths and problem-solving, while girls led in reading.
