Ireland Urged To Focus On Competitiveness And Budget During EU Presidency

Ireland’s upcoming EU Council Presidency must prove the centre can still deliver amid rising political division across Europe.

That's according to Midlands North-West MEP Barry Cowen while addressing Senators in Leinster House.

The Fianna Fáil MEP believes Ireland should use its Presidency to advance practical progress on competitiveness, agriculture, trade, security and the EU’s long-term budget.

He says Ireland must act as an honest broker during the Presidency:
