That's according to Midlands North-West MEP Barry Cowen while addressing Senators in Leinster House.
The Fianna Fáil MEP believes Ireland should use its Presidency to advance practical progress on competitiveness, agriculture, trade, security and the EU’s long-term budget.
He says Ireland must act as an honest broker during the Presidency:
