They were due to celebrate their 50th anniversary at Birr Castle next month, to co-incide with the castle's 400th birthday.
The Association says they put off making a decision for as long as possible but it would be impossible to organise an event with large crowds of people from all over Ireland, Europe and the US in the current conditions.
