The jury has spent the past few days considering the evidence but has yet to deliver verdicts in the case.
The jury in the trial of four members of Jozef Puska’s family has been sent home for the weekend having deliberated for over seven hours this week.
His two brothers are accused of withholding information from gardai investigating Ashling Murphy’s murder, while their wives are on trial for assisting an offender.
Jozef Puska’s brothers, Marek and Lubomir, are accused of withholding information in their dealings with gardai a few days after Ashling Murphy’s murder.Marek’s wife, Jozefina Grundzova, and Lubomir’s wife, Viera Gazoiva, are accused of assisting Jozef Puska after he murdered Ms Murphy by burning his clothes.
The jury has spent the past few days considering the evidence but has yet to deliver verdicts in the case.
However, they did return to court this afternoon with a number of questions for the judge, including a query as to whether the accused persons needed to know they were doing something unlawful at the time in order for them to be guilty of a crime.
In relation to that, the answer was “no.”
In her answers, the judge also reminded the jury that the right against self-incrimination can amount to a reasonable excuse, and they were warned to be careful not to speculate or enter into guesswork.
