Fianna Fail's Padraig Fleming will step down after the next county council meeting.
A long standing Laois councillor is to step down from politics at the end of this month.
Fianna Fail's Padraig Fleming, who represents the Graiguecullen-Portarlington municipal district is to retire after the next Laois County Council meeting on March 30th.
The Swan man first entered local politics when he came third in the poll for the then Luggacurren municipal district in the 2009 local elections.
He retained his seat in 2014, and a further two times topping the poll in 2019.
He's also served two terms as Cathaoirleach from 2017 to 2018 and again in 2024 to 2025.
