Laois Councillors Discuss Idea Of Monument For Covid-19 Victims

An area for the bereaved to sit and remember loved ones was suggested.

Discussions are underway in Laois to create a monument for those who lost their lives to Covid-19.

Cllr Noel Tuohy says many people missed the chance to say goodbye at a wake and this has added an extra layer to their grief.

He wants a dedicated area for the bereaved to sit and remember and to know their loved ones are remembered by the community.

The local authority has suggested dedicating some woodlands, planted with native trees for those who died and those who cared for them.
