Tony McAllister from Mountmellick is set to compete in the Marathon de Sables in Morocco.
A driving instructor in Laois is getting ready to take on an exceptionally tough ultramarathon in the Sahara Desert this Easter.
Tony McAllister from Mountmellick is set to compete in the 40th annual Marathon de Sables in Morocco which is 270km long, with the course spread over six days.
The event gets underway this Easter Sunday.
Mr McAllister spent 28 years in the defence forces and has been training 5-6 days a week preparing for it.
