Laois Electricity Capacity Set For Boost

Two transformers are being brought into a Laois substation.

ESB is delivering two transformers to a Laois substation to boost the region's electricity capacity.

The equipment is among the largest loads ever transported on Irish roads, from Limerick's Foynes Port to Coolnabacky Substation over the course of two weekends.

TII, Powercom, and the local authorities in Offaly, Laois, Tipperary and Limerick all coordinated and planned the safe delivery with the ESB.

Coolnabacky is part of the Laois-Kilkenny Grid Reinforcement Project, and will support the connection of homes and businesses across the region once operational.
