The authorities were operating under Operation Táirge.
Midlands Gardaí from the Retail Crime Unit, operating under Operation Táirge, have arrested and charged two suspected prolific retail thieves.
A follow-up search of a Portlaoise home uncovered over €3,000 worth of suspected stolen goods, including perfumes, clothing, alcohol, baby items and household products.
Investigations are underway to identify the retailers affected by the thefts.
Both suspects have been brought before the courts, with further enquiries continuing at additional locations.
