The Laois TD feels the Mountmellick Hospital upgrade won't increase capacity.
A multi million euro spend on a Laois hospital cannot mean no extra beds.
That's according to Laois TD Brian Stanley who is pushing for the capacity of Mountmellick Hospital to be increased.
There are 58 beds at the hospital at this time, and the Independent deputy believes the incoming upgrade will bring no extra capacity.
There are three phases being planned for the expansion of the hospital, with phase one costing 31 million euro, with plans in place for the next two.
