Local Authority Conducting Audit Into Lack Of Bus Shelters In Laois

€50,000 was designated to improve the situation in the capital spending plan.

Laois County Council is agreeing to undertake an audit surrounding the lack of bus shelters in the county. 

Currently, there's no cover for those waiting on public transport in Mountrath, Borris-in-Ossory and Castletown - routes which have accounted for 24,000 journeys in the last nine months. 

Independent councillor James Kelly says it's embarrassing to drive past people waiting for a service in these towns.

He wants €50,000 designated for the issue in the county's capital budget to be used immediately:
