Laois Man Defies Odds In Fight Against Leukaemia

A donor was found for an extremely rare form of bone marrow.

A Laois man has defied the odds to find a donor for an extremely rare form of bone marrow.

38 year old Kamil Ossowski was diagnosed with acute leukaemia last December and his partner Sabina Berth issued an urgent appeal for help.

Despite a 1 in 5 million chance of finding a suitable donor, the Portlaoise couple was notified for a 95 per cent match three weeks ago and a transplant is now scheduled for May 5th.
