Darren Gorman, of O’Moore Place in Portlaoise recieved sentence today.
Three men have been jailed for their roles in a foiled plan to set fire to a Mosque in Galway.
The judges described them as members of a right-wing, violent, extremist group, who were radicalised online, and motivated by hatred.
Garrett Pollock, from Annalong, Co Down, was described as the effective leader of the Irish Defence Army (IDA). He was jailed for 9.5 years.
Karolis Peckauskas, of Newfoundwell Road, Drogheda; and Darren Gorman, of O’Moore Place, Portlaoise, were both jailed for seven years.
Their plan was to smash the windows of the Maryam Mosque in Galway before throwing pipe bombs inside.
They had recorded a video claiming responsibility, which they intended to send to media organisations after the attack.
But the plot was foiled when gardai stopped two of them in Portlaoise last November.
Explosive materials, weapons and detailed plans were seized.
The video of the men, dressed in black and wearing balaclavas, was found on Pollock’s phone.
Ms Justice Caroline Biggs described their actions as hooliganism and thuggery, motivated by hatred, and directed at a community that had done them no wrong.
