Laois People Among The Most Likely To Be Sent To Prison

It's among six counties with an above average rate of imprisonment.

People in Laois are among the most likely in Ireland to be sent to prison.

7,170 people were committed to jail last year, according to figures from the Irish Prison Service.

The Irish Independent reports the highest rate of imprisonment was among people from Limerick, followed BY Longford, and then Dublin.

But Laois was among the three other counties over the national average of 132 people for every 100,000.
