Laois Priest Concerned About Undertakers Advice To Bury COVID-19 Victims Without Funerals

He says it's a stark realisation of the current situation.

A Midlands priest is concerned about the mental health of those dealing with the death of a family member due to Coronavirus. 

It follows advice from the Irish Association of Funeral Directors that people who have died from the illness should be buried or cremated immediately and funerals held at a later date.

Portlaoise Monsignor John Byrne says serious consideration must be given to respecting the grieving process while maintaining the safety of those in contact with the body after death.
