Laois Prison officers are hoping to knock out members of the Defence Forces this weekend.

The Prison Service Boxing Squad is squaring up to army personnel for a charity fight night to raise funds for the Autism Unit at the Holy Family School in Portlaoise.

Later this year the group will travel to New York to fight their counterparts in the New York Correctional Department.

Event organiser Austin Stack says the school is very close to the hearts of the prison service because a couple of staff members have children attending the Star Unit:

The fight night will take place in the Midlands Park Hotel on tonight.
