A new gym and library are being installed in Portlaoise.
A prison in the Midlands is installing a brand new gym and library, and a bomb proof van has been purchased to prepare for the arrival of Daniel Kinahan.
The maximum Portlaoise Prison is set to host Kinahan who will be isolated from the rest of the prison population, ahead of his expected extradition to Ireland from Dubai.
He'll have access to the gym and library for his sole use, while more prison staff will be committed to securing the area as well.
The new state of the art bullet and bomb-proof van was bought from the UK and is expected to be used to escort Kinahan to the prison when he arrives.
