The change in legislation saw Ukrainian refugees given a weekly allowance of €38.80.
Over 100 Ukrainian refugees are being accommodated at a Laois site, since it became a reception centre.
The new arrangement sees Beneficiaries of Temporary Protection being housed for a period of 90-days.
The legislation also states anyone in these centres will be subject to a reduced social welfare weekly allowance of €38.80 per adult, which is the equivalent to those seeking asylum from other countries.
The site in Stradbally is currently accommodating 109 people under the new rules, and the Department of Integration says it was emptied in recent weeks to allow for it to be used as a DAC.
