220 rental homes were inspected in Laois last year.
80% of private rental accommodation inspected by Laois County Council last year resulted in notices to improve.
Of the 5,600 rented homes in the county, 220 were inspected with 176 of those incurring the notices.
Laois TD Brian Stanley says it's a clear indication of the poor quality of homes in the market and landlords should be forced to take action.
