Dubrovnik, Ibiza, and Laois are among the places shortlisted for the European Green Pioneer of Smart Tourism Award.
The O'Moore County joins nine other destinations competing for the title.
The award recognises leadership in sustainable and regenerative tourism across Europe.
Delegates from Laois County Council will travel to Brussels in November to represent Ireland in the competition.
The nine nominees: Laois (Ireland), Dubrovnik (Croatia), Geestland (Germany), Ibiza (Spain), Mariagerfjord (Denmark), Marmaris (Türkiye), Rebild (Denmark), Tartu (Estonia).
