Willie Aird is making the call to Micheal Martin over the Leprino Foods site in Portlaoise.
A Laois TD is asking the Taoiseach to intervene directly to help secure new investment for the site of a food production facility.
Last year Leprino Foods confirmed plans to shut its Portlaoise cheese manufacturing plant, with production set to wind down in the second half of this year.
The decision will see the US-based cheese producer withdraw its manufacturing operations from the country.
The facility is currently on the market for 12 million euro.
