A Laois TD feels that the deployment distance for ambulances should be shortened.
Independent TD Brian Stanley says the system means vehicles are being sent as far as Cork or Waterford to answer calls under the 80 kilometer limit in place.
He also feels there's an ongoing problem of insufficient staff numbers and retainment in the service due to burnout.
