A Laois TD is calling on the government to progress with long promised relief roads for the county.
Brian Stanley wants to see works for the roads in Mountmellick and Portlaoise, and for roundabouts at the junctions of Ballyfin Road, Greenmill Lane and Harpur's Lane to be made a priority.
The Portlaoise TD has accused the government of ignoring the problem and says Mountmellick relief road was promised 20 years ago.
Heavy traffic from the midlands and the west, including a large number of HGVs passes through the town of Mountmellick, often causing congestion.
