The Irish government is looking to retain the nitrates derogation beyond 2025.
A Laois TD says an extension to the Nitrates Derogation is important for Irish farmers.
There are concerns that withdrawing the exception could result in job losses for as many as one in every eight dairy farmers.
Ireland has made three presentations to the EU Nitrates Committee in Brussels as part of the derogation process, the most recent occurring last Friday.
