Laois TD Takes Fire At Government Over Insurance Costs

Brian Stanley says costs are spiraling out of control for local groups and clubs.

A Laois TD believes Ireland is completely out of sync with the rest of Europe in terms of motor, business and health insurance costs.

Independent rep Brian Stanley says voluntary groups and sports clubs are under enormous pressure every year to find the funds to keep going.

He wants to the government to step in and reform the insurance sector to put an end to people on the State pension paying up to €2,000 a year on their health policies.

Deputy Stanley says the cost of insurance on the road also needs to be reduced:
