A relief scheme has faced a number of delays.

Residents in a Laois town are consistently concerned with the risk of flooding in the area, according to a Local Election candidate.

Mountmellick was devastated by flooding in 2017, and a relief scheme aimed at protecting the area has met a number of delays.

It's now hoped construction will start next year, with an expected completion date of 2026.
