Large Classrooms Prominent In Two Midlands Schools

The National School Annual Census surveys every mainstream primary school in the country.

Two primary schools in the midlands are among the largest in average class size in the country.

Killadooley National School in Laois and Crinkill National School in Offaly both have over 29 students per classroom.

Over half of classes in 4 schools in the region have greater than 30 students, according to the Irish Independent.

Nationally, there are an average of 22.8 students per classroom, which is the lowest figure in Ireland since 2000, but is still the highest in the EU.

The figures come from the National School Annual Census, which surveys every mainstream primary school in the country.
