Legislation Providing Paid Leave For Early Pregnancy Loss To Go To Cabinet

Longford Westmeath TD Peter Burke says it should be in place by the end of the year.

The Employment Minister is facing calls to offer women who lose a pregnancy before 23 weeks,20 days of paid leave.

Minister Peter Burke says legislation providing five days of paid time off will hopefully be in place by the end of the year.

However, Labour health spokesperson Marie Sherlock is calling for the party's own bill, which was put forward five years ago and offers 20 days off, to be taken up in order to implement the legislation faster.
