Friary Strand has been selected in Athlone.
Westmeath County Council is confirming the location for an Outdoor Pool and Boardwalk Project.
Friary Strand has been selected as the preferred site for the proposed outdoor swimming pool and riverside boardwalk project in Athlone.
The regeneration initiative will link the Athlone Dublin Greenway to Burgess Park while introducing a new urban swimming facility on the River Shannon.
The project is co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union through the EU Just Transition Fund.
Friary Strand scored highest in the councils assessments for accessibility, safety and environmental impact.
