Elderly people in the midlands are suffering profound levels of isolation due to the long wait for audiology appointments.
Independent TD Carol Nolan also says it's heartbreaking to see people waiting over two years to be seen.
She knows of one person, in the Laois Offaly area, who has been on the list for 18 months and was informed recently it would ‘at least another 12 months’ until they get an appointment.
She says many people are having their quality of life reduced because they can't hear in social settings:
