A man accused of assaulting a young woman in Westmeath is to go forward for trial.
62 year old Sean Bailey from Hyde Court in Roscommon is charged with intentionally or recklessly causing serious harm to a a woman in her 30s, according to the Irish Independent.
The incident is alleged to have taken place at the Corpus Christi Church at Connaught Gardens in Athlone on September 12 last year.
The section four charge is the most serious of assault charges and can carry a life sentence.
Mr Bailey has been given an alibi warning and is remanded on bail to appear at Mullingar Circuit Criminal Court on July 2nd.
