It happened on Athlone's O'Connell Street on Thursday.
A gardai has been injured while carrying out an arrest in Westmeath.
The incident happened at around 11 o'clock on Thursday on Athlone's O'Connell Street.
During the incident, a male Garda was struck with a bicycle and suffered non life threatening injuries.
A man in his 30's was arrested and appeared before Athlone District Court on Friday.
He is expected to remain in custody until tomorrow.
