A man has been chased down by Gardaí after an attempted firearm robbery in Offaly.
The incident took place in Tullamore town centre yesterday afternoon.
The man, who had just carried out a robbery at a local business premises, was observed acting suspiciously by a member of the Gardaí.
After what Tullamore Gardaí are describing as a short foot pursuit the man was apprehended and a firearm was recovered.
He is currently being detained at Tullamore Garda Station.
