He's due to reappear before the courts later this month.
A man charged with the assault of an elderly woman in an Athlone nursing home has been further remanded in custody.
54-year-old Peter Keaney, of 7 Hillside Close, Monksland, Athlone, Roscommon, appeared on Wednesday morning before Athlone District Court.
Mr. Keaney is charged with section 3 assault causing harm to a woman in her 80s after allegedly entering Sonas Nursing Home on the Ballymahon Road in Athlone on Monday night, April 29.
He was remanded in custody to June 26 when he will reappear at Athlone District Court.
