Sean Egan has been remanded in custody in Cloverhill Prison.
A midlands man has been charged with the murder of a mum of one.
Sharon Crean was discovered with serious injuries in an apartment in Laois on Wednesday and the 34-year-old was later pronounced dead at the scene.
36 year old Sean Egan, with an address Lios na Slí, Rathmiles, Portarlington, was charged with her murder last night in Portlaoise Garda Station.
He said "no comment" when presented with the charge.
Today he appeared before Portlaoise District Court, where he was granted legal aid.
He’s been remanded in custody to Cloverhill Prison and is due again before the court via videolink next Thursday.
Gardai removed one member of the public from the court, after he heckled Mr Egan.
About 15-20 people gathered outside the courthouse afterwards and again heckled at a Garda van, containing the accused.
