The incident took place in Walsh Island last February.
A man has been jailed for seven years after pleading guilty to the false imprisonment of a pensioner at his home in Co Offaly.
RTE News is reporting Patrick McDonagh, 24, with an address at St Margaret's Park, Ballymun, Dublin 11 was one of four men involved in the incident, which happened at the home of James 'Jimmy' Donoghue in Walsh Island on 26 February last year.
Mr Donohue was found in his home by his brother John.
He was tied up with a necktie after being assaulted while the house was ransacked.
Judge Keenan Johnson set the headline sentence at ten years and reduced that to seven when he took mitigating factors into account, including the repayment of 1,000 euro to the victim, now aged 67.
