A man who had no explanation when he was found in possession of an axe in the Midlands has been given a 12 month sentence for his part in a number of thefts.
The Irish Independent is reporting, 20 year old Aaron Hartshorn is pleading guilty to seven counts of theft, one attempted theft, two drug possession counts, no insurance, and stealing a car at locations across Athlone and Ballymahon between July 2025, and March this year.
Mr Hartshorn is already in custody serving a 10 month sentence for a series of thefts.
His defence told the court he's starring down the barrel of a life in prison if continues the way he is.
The judge handed down three consecutive four-month prison sentences for two of the thefts and attempted theft counts, and a further four-month consecutive prison term, suspended for a period of 12 months.
