It happened yesterday shortly after 3am in Ballinasloe.
A young man has escaped serious injuries after being shot in the face in the Midlands, according to the Irish Independent.
A 25 year old man is being treated for non-life threatening injuries after the incident which took place shortly after 3am in the Dunlo area of Ballinasloe, yesterday.
He's believed to have been shot while sleeping in his home in the Cúlán Eiscir Riada estate near the M6 motorway.
A number of shots were fired after at least one intruder forced their way in to his house.
No arrests have been made and Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.
