A lack of marketing is to blame for minimal tourism opportunities in the midlands.
That's according to travel journalist Eoghan Corry, who revealed the Hidden Heartlands campaign is responsible for less than 3% of international tourists coming to Ireland.
He claims there are people from Romania, Poland and Germany willing to travel to visit wetlands, but this isn't being taken advantage of here.
